Mar Athanasius Academy has got its name in golden letters in the field of Sports and Games. The students have made outstanding achievements in international, national and university level competitions. The training and facilities given in the academy are remarkable. The management has instituted scholarships for the enhancement of sports in the campus. In recognition of achievements in sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI) selected Mar Athanasius College as its extension centre. The college has provided the maximum number of men athletes in the All India Inter University Championship for the last three years and secured 14 Gold, 9 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals.
Best College in Sports Award 2013
The College has received the prestigious Award for the Best College in Sports for the year 2013-14. Prof. P. I. Babu, former Head of the Department of Physical Education was awarded the Best Teacher of Physical Education by the Government of Kerala in 2014.
Ms. Anilda Thomas represented India in the Rio Olympics 2016. She participated in the Common- wealth Games (Glasgow, Scotland) in 2014, World Athletic Championship (Moscow) in 2013 and Asian Indoor Athletic Championship Hangzhou (China) in 2013. She participated in the Asian Track and Field meet held at Pune in 2013 representing Indian team in (4x400 Relay) and won Gold Medal.
Mr. Gopi .T, former student of Mar Athanasius College represented India (Marathon) in the Rio Olympics 2016.
Mr. Anuroop John represented India in the Asian Athletic meet held at India in 2013.
Mr. A Anshad, former student, represented India in the World Military games (Volleyball) held at Korea in 2016. He was also selected to the Junior Indian Volleyball Team in the year 2010
Mr. Benoy Balachandran, former student, represented India in the World Military games (Volleyball) held at Korea in 2016.
Ms. Sheena N.V. represented India in the Asian Grand Prix serious at Thailand 2015. She was selected to the Indian Team for Asian Athletic Championship. She took part in the World University Games held at Kazan, Russia in 2013. She represented India in Triple Jump in the Indoor Athletic Championship held in Hangzhou, China 2013.
Ms. Arunima P.M. was selected to the Indian Team for the Junior SAF Athletic Meet held at Ranchi in 2013 (won Silver Medal in 4 x 400 meters relay).
Mr. Jestin Jose, former student, represented India in the World Arm Wrestling Championship held at Spain and Won Gold and a Silver medal in 2012. He also represented India in the World Arm Wrestling Championship held at Punjab and won a Silver medal in 2013.
Mr. Basil Eldhose, former student (M G University record holder) represented India in the world Police games in Long Jump with a distance of 7.85m in 2013.
Mr. Debin Eldhose, former student, represented India in the Asian Grant Prix Series in (4x100m Relay) held at Pune 2013.
Ms. Tiana Mary Thomas secured Gold Medal in 4 x 400 meters relay in the South Asian Federation Games held at Dhaka and won a Silver medal in 4 x 400 meters relay in the Asian Indoor Games held at Hanoi, Vietnam, in November 2009. She represented India in the Asian Indoor Athletic Meet held at Qatar. She also participated in the Common Wealth Games held at New Delhi and Asian Games held at China in 2010
Mr. Muhammed Nazim won a Gold and Silver medal in the International Meet held at Incheon, South Korea, 2008.
Mr. Prince Jose won a Bronze medal in the International Meet held at Incheon, South Korea, 2008
Mr. Jithin Thomas represented India in the world Military Games held at Korea in 2015
